Bio

Ethan French is a multi-instrumentalist musician & composer with composition, arranging and production experience, whose output ranges from instrumental to vocal-based works in a myriad of styles. Ethan is known for intricate arrangements recorded entirely at home, employing a variety of instruments from piano, voice, guitar and bass to drums and ukulele. Ethan is a graduate of the Composition and Music Technology course at the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA).. His musical ambitions were solidified at age 15 when Ethan received first place in the year 7 - 12 instrumental category in the Australian Children’s Music Foundation (ACMF) national songwriting competition, allowing him to invest in some recording equipment. Ethan graduated high school with one of the highest music ATAR practical scores in the state and was invited to perform at the prestigious Performing Arts Perspectives concert (held at the Perth Concert Hall) in 2019. Since commencing study at WAAPA, Ethan has performed extensively with Perth acts Queency and Chelsea Elder at a myriad of Perth venues and at various private events. In July of 2020 he was named the winner of the City of Subiaco’s Ampfest@home competition and has continued to refine his craft through various commercial releases and social media content. Ethan's release "Say What You Want" has amassed over 78 thousand streams on Apple Music and consequent triple j airtime. Recently, Ethan has received notoriety for intricate original ‘song sketches’ alongside arrangements of popular songs on platforms including Instagram and TikTok, eliciting online interactions with Rai Thistlewhaite, Guy Sebastian and Jacob Collier among others. Ethan continues to release original music on streaming platforms and is gearing up for the release of a debut album in the near future.
